Polysomnography measures various body functions such as Brain waves, Breathing rate and effort, Eye movement, Heart rate, Oxygen levels in the blood and Body position.
When you get an at-home sleep study, our technician will bring and setup a kit that includes sensors and equipment for you to wear as you sleep. These sensors record relevant information including your breathing patterns, your heart rate, overall body movements, oxygen levels amongst other things. Sleep specialists then analyse this data to diagnose accurately the specific issues related to your sleep disorder.

Your first appointment will be 90 minutes in length and you will chat with both, our psychiatrist and psychologists. They will conduct an intake session where they will discuss your history, symptoms, needs and goals.
A typical conversation with a psychiatrist could last anywhere between 15-20 minutes, and ongoing therapy sessions typically last 45-60 minutes, depending on your treatment plan and clinician’s recommendation.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and treatment plan. Your clinician will discuss this with you during your first appointment.
Typically 1-2 therapy sessions are prescribed per week.
Sleep medication is useful in the short term however, it isn’t generally prescribed for the long term due to its risks of dependence and tolerance. Consult your psychiatrist or somnologist (sleep doctor) before using sleep medication for long periods, they can adjust your medication accordingly.
