Integrated and Holistic Care

Schizophrenia can impact your daily functioning, relationships, work, and overall wellbeing. That’s why our approach combines therapy, medication management, psychosocial support, and practical techniques. Whether you're struggling with disorganized thinking, hallucinations or social withdrawal, our goal is to help you regain stability and live a meaningful life.

In-Depth Testing

Schizophrenia is complex and thus, often misunderstood. In fact, it can overlap with bipolar disorder, depression, or substance use disorders. Our team uses comprehensive psychological assessments and clinical interviews to ensure that your diagnosis is accurate and the care you receive is precise, and customised to your needs from day one.

Personalised Treatment Plans

No two people experience schizophrenia the same way. Our psychiatrists and psychologists take the time to understand your unique experience, from your symptoms to your treatment goals. Your treatment plan will be tailored to you, combining medication, therapy, and skills training in a way that fits your life, not the other way round.

Goal Oriented, Focused Care

Whether you're returning to work, rebuilding relationships, or seeking independence, our treatment plans are structured, time-bound, and outcome-driven to help you move forward in ways that matter most.

Transformation Stories at BetterPlace!

My mind played tricks on me

“It’s so strange how your mind can play tricks on you. I was in my early 20s when Schizophrenia affected me. It started with a few noises when I was alone. It felt like a sound was coming from somewhere but nothing would be there when I’d check. I knew something was VERY wrong. I have been on medication for 6 months, and the progress is better. The psychological tools help me manage the triggers of the voices.”

I had always been an imaginative child

“Bro I have always been an imaginative child, at least according to my parents. I would talk to and play with my “imaginary” friends. Cut to 5 years later—I’m being diagnosed with Schizophrenia LOL. When I got to know about the diagnosis I thought I was cooked. But regular visits to BetterPlace has helped me clear my mind and on most occasions, I no longer see my imaginary friends, lmfao.”

Kartik A.
I couldn't even pronounce the name of the condition

“My young son was diagnosed with scizophrenia at young age of 11. He saw people talking to him and he talked back. We got scared and contacted doctor but they say we need help him with psychiatrist and psychologist. BetterPlace has both and diagnose my son quickly. He is 13 now completely changed boy. He make friends and play with them, i am happy.”

Sonalika H.

Then i found out about BetterPlace, the intake was super smooth, the staff was very helpful and guided me every step of the way. I am very glad i chose BP!”

Independence over dependence

“Extremely pragmatic approach to therapy- they identify your best course of action and focus on ensuring independence rather than dependence on therapy. I have immensely benefited from the practice and absolutely recommend Dr Akul and Ayushi.”

Frequently Asked Questions

When you visit BetterPlace for your first session, you will have a relaxed discussion of approximately an hour, during which you can explain your medical history in detail to our clinical psychologists. Our psychologist will prepare a case workup based on this and share it with our psychiatrist. Over the next half hour or so, our psychologist and psychiatrist will sit with you to explain their diagnosis of your condition, recommend the necessary assessments to confirm it, and outline the expected treatment plan and timeline.

We prefer that in your first session, you meet both a psychologist and a psychiatrist, so that your medical history can be properly understood, and your recommended treatment is comprehensive, so that you can recover faster and stay well. However, you can choose to meet just one of them, if you wish to do so.

No, during your first session, we will thoroughly understand your case and symptoms. From there, our psychiatrists will diagnose you using their deep understanding of various mental health conditions and state-of-the-art clinical and psychological assessments. It is only after the root cause of the problem has been understood that a treatment plan will be recommended to you. This ensures that your treatment is effective, so that you can get better, faster.

Schizophrenia can be a lifelong condition, and while it cannot be cured, there is still hope. With the right treatment and support, many people with schizophrenia are able to manage their symptoms well and lead fulfilling, meaningful lives.

Most people with schizophrenia need to take a course of medication as it helps balance the chemicals in the brain. Depending on the severity of your condition, medication may or may not be permanently required; however, treatment for schizophrenia works the best when it is combined with therapy for long-term results.

No, not yet. The FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) has approved certain brain stimulation methods for the treatment of Depression, OCD and Addictions that have not responded well to traditional treatment methods. Even at BetterPlace, we employ rTMS (Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and tDCS (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) to treat TRD (Treatment Resistent Depression), Obesssive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Addictions. However, while rTMS and tDCS are not yet approved for treating schizophrenia, the use case is being heavily researched.

Yes, therapy can absolutely help. While medication is often key in managing the core symptoms of schizophrenia, therapy plays a really important role in helping you understand your experience, build coping strategies, and improve your quality of life. While medication can help you with immediate symptom relief, therapy is integral to sustaining that relief, so you can stay stable and feel well for longer periods of time.

Yes, therapy sessions are 100% confidential and there is 0% judgement. Your therapist will never share the details of your case with any mental health professional who is not involved in your treatment plan. So share freely and honestly, so you can build a relationship based on trust and openness.

The BetterPlace clinic is open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and 9:00 am – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Friday. However, we are always reachable on WhatsApp on +919773996888.

Our psychiatrists and psychologists provide both online and offline consultancy. However, some specialised therapy techniques like relaxation therapy, rTMS or tDCS can only be administered in person, at our clinic.
