Some years ago, I took a break from a corporate career to explore my interest in the field of mental health services. Many friends and colleagues told me to reconsider – it seemed mental health was hardly even a topic of conversation, far from being a field in which one could make a significant difference.
Against odds, our team’s work succeeded in transforming thousands of lives.
What I’ve witnessed and experienced has had a very deep impact on me.
Along the way, I’ve met some terrific people – health professionals, patients, family members, and others like me simply fascinated by science, and the transformation that follows when we combine empathy and quality healthcare.
My experience has led me to BetterPlace – where a curated team of like-minded experts are creating a unique service focused on bettering the outcomes for patients.
We’ve pledged to overcome the many challenges along the way, one step at a time, to build an ecosystem for comprehensive care.
We hope that you’ll support us in our efforts.
Connect With MeMy journey to mental health began with meditation.
For nearly a decade, I immersed myself in the high-stakes world of startups, culminating in a role where I had to turn-around a large, struggling organisation. Although we found success in our goals, the relentless pressure and tough market conditions, left me utterly burnt out.
In search of deeper meaning, I turned to spirituality, dedicating a year to learning and practicing various meditation techniques. During this period, I connected with many others who were also grappling with existential questions and personal struggles. While I initially believed meditation was the answer, I quickly realised that its true benefits required a long-term commitment and consistent practice, which is difficult to sustain for most of us.
This realisation shifted my focus to mental health therapy. I saw how therapy could offer a more accessible path to self-discovery, reflection, and growth. I immersed myself in it, and the results were transformative.
At the end of this period, I was determined to go back to entrepreneurship, but this time around, for a cause that I was passionate about, and that meant something to me.
BetterPlace is a culmination of that passion and vision. We hope to bring transformative care to each and every one that puts their trust in us.
Connect With MeIn my four decades of Psychiatric practice, I’ve seen the field of mental health rapidly change with exciting developments in neuroscience and understanding of the human brain. However, one thing that has not changed is the paucity of mental health services providing compassionate, comprehensive, and clinically correct care.
My work as a clinician, teacher, and researcher, and of having served in top leadership positions in international organisations, or of having founded mental health services, professional and philanthropic institutions, or of policy planning – all has brought home only one learning: it has to be patients and their caregivers first!
At BetterPlace we bring you the distilled wisdom derived from this vast experience, including clinical care provided over 300,000 patient visits, touching lives of a large number of families and communities.
BetterPlace delivers this exceptional service through its outstanding multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals who use internationally accepted treatment protocols and the latest technologies. They blend the science and art of psychiatry and therapeutic practice, personalizing it to suit every patient’s individual needs and life context. A rigorous clinical governance program ensures that you get only the best.
Your mental well-being is our top priority.
Together, we will work towards leading you to a BetterPlace!
Head, Clinical Governance
Psychology as a subject came very naturally to me. The art of bringing back a smile on sad faces, eliminating inner struggles, resolving long-standing interpersonal conflicts, and helping restore happiness, through psychological methods, touched me deeply.
Two decades of treating complicated cases of Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Grief, Trauma and various other conditions as a Clinical Psychologist, alongside training hundreds of other aspiring psychologists, has given me deep insights into the human mind.
Over the decades, as our understanding of human psychology and effective therapy has evolved, we recognise that a person’s brain functions, past experiences, upbringing, environment, personality traits, and beliefs, all play a crucial role in their mental health. Based on these learnings through my career, I have developed and actioned specific comprehensive psychological programs, that have greatly benefitted my patients.
Yet, even today, we see a dearth of comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatments approaches involving all the aspects of the individual’s life.
At BetterPlace we understand that effective treatments must consider this complex interplay of factors. Our highly qualified team fills this gap, by providing ground-breaking, integrated, and individualised care.
We Say and We Do because We Care for you. Increasing your Happiness Quotient, is our focus.
Clinical Governance, BetterPlace
From our welcome staff to our senior-most doctors, the actions of every individual at BetterPlace are guided by our six core values
BetterPlace was created to give you correct and comprehensive care. To that end, our experts follow a very unique approach that focuses on (a) getting you an accurate diagnosis, (b) providing end-to-end evidence-backed treatment options, and (c) continuously monitoring your progress to help you recover in the shortest possible time.
At BetterPlace, we believe that there is no one approach that works for everyone. Based on the unique insights we gain about you, our doctors tailor a unique, multi-modal treatment plan specifically for you that includes various forms of therapy and treatment. We don’t just offer psychotherapy and medication, but a combined treatment approach that is evidence-based and outcome-oriented.
During your first visit, you’ll start by meeting with a clinical psychologist who will spend time with you to understand your concerns, history, and goals, in-depth. This initial welcome session usually lasts about 45 minutes. They will follow our specially designed intake process to build your case history, which will then be shared with a senior doctor at BetterPlace, whom you will meet next.
We offer treatments for various conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, addictions, and eating disorders. If your condition is not mentioned here, please feel free to reach out and discuss with us directly, because our experts have treated thousands of patients and chances are, we will be able to help you get a solution to your concern.
A consultation a BetterPlace costs between INR 1500-2000, depending on which member of our team you are speaking to. Please call us on +91 9773996890 for further details.
Your first conversation with our clinical psychologist will last around 45 minutes as it involves a detailed discussion about your needs, goals and history. A typical conversation with a psychiatrist could last anywhere between 15-20 minutes, and ongoing therapy sessions typically last 45-60 minutes, depending on your treatment plan, your clinician’s recommendation, and your availability and comfort.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and treatment plan. Your clinician will discuss this with you during your first appointment.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring a family member or friend for support during your appointments if you would like.
