My OCD is finally under control

“BetterPlace has helped me manage my OCD such that I can lead a normal life again. Before I would check the lock 23 times before leaving the house and adjust the car mirror 18 times before driving each time. Thanks to my sessions with Dr Akul I have finally broken free of that horrible chain. I feel so free I just cannot express it in words!!!”

Monali S.
My son’s OCD took over our lives

“My son’s OCD was so bad, he’d spend hours checking locks or washing his hands til they were all red and sore. His hands had callouses and burns from all the scrubbing. My wife and I knew it was time to consult a psychiatrist. At BetterPlace, we not only met a psychiatrist, but we also met clinical psychologists who provided him with combined treatment. I always thought both services were different! My son is still doing the same behaviours but at least not as much. I can already see improvement in his life.”

Babil M.
I kept overcorrecting my work

“I never realised how much OCD was affecting my life until I got help. I used to think I was just being a perfectionist. I’d keep overcorrecting the work i did, every small mistake was impossible to ignore, what wasnt a mistake but felt like it was also too hard to ignore. It felt like my brain was on overdrive 24/7. Now, I’ve learned tools that actually work, and I’m finally finding peace. Seriously, reaching out was the best decision I’ve made.”

Kunal L.
She was lagging behind in class

“My 10 yr old niece’s teachers always commended her cleanliness and neatness but complained that she doesn’t get her work done on time, that she gets stuck on menial tasks such as drawing straight lines, perfect circles, making sure her pencil box and bag were organised to the cm. It was really affecting her studies and grades. I consulted a friend who mentioned it could be OCD. Upon his request, I showed my niece to BetterPlace and turns out she does have OCD. The psychologists are very friendly and told me it is good that we found out about it earlier so it doesn’t progress further.”

Govind B.
I replayed every conversation in my head

“For years, I couldn’t sleep without mentally replaying every conversation from my day, obsessing over things I might’ve said wrong. I’m not ‘cured,’ but I’m finally living life instead of overthinking it. The BetterPlace team has truly helped me live a better life.”

Finding my way back

I was told anxiety and depression often go hand in hand so I should not feel overwhelmed. But the problem was my anxiety constantly made me feel trapped while the depression made it very hard to be positive. But after coming to BP, my doctor helped me get to the bottom of my feelings and slowly but surely find a way out. His practical techniques have been quite easy to implement and I am now more hopeful than I have ever been.

Frequently Asked Questions

When you visit BetterPlace for the first time, you will speak to our in-house clinical psychologists who will take a detailed case history and understand your chief complaints. The psychologist will then discuss your case with our psychiatrist who will share a diagnosis and recommend the appropriate assessments and treatment plans.

Our approach is for you to meet both, as OCD treatment often combines therapy and medication. Psychiatrists can help manage obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours with medications, while psychologists guide you in understanding triggers and learning effective coping strategies. If you prefer, you can meet just one, but working with both can support faster recovery and long-term progress.

No, in the first session, we’ll take the time to fully understand your experiences, obsessive thoughts, compulsions, and triggers. Our psychiatrists will use the latest diagnostic tools to evaluate your condition and work closely with in-house psychologists to design a personalised treatment plan. Your treatment will begin after this thorough evaluation to ensure it’s tailored to your needs.

If constantly thinking about something (obsessive thoughts) or feeling the need to do the same thing repeatedly (compulsive behaviours) is disrupting your daily life—such as affecting your relationships, work, or ability to focus—it’s time to seek professional support. Repeated intrusive thoughts, rituals that take up hours of your day, or feelings of distress when you can’t complete a compulsion may indicate that you need specialised care.

Our approach to OCD focuses on helping you achieve long-term relief and control, rather than temporary solutions. We work to understand your specific triggers, obsessive thoughts, and compulsive behaviours through proven assessments, and creating a personalised treatment plan. With ongoing support, we help you stay consistent with therapy, self-care, and strategies to manage symptoms, even when things feel overwhelming.

Yes, during regular working hours, you can call our front desk at +91 977 399 6888, and they will connect you with the doctor handling your case.

Therapy sessions are 100% confidential and there is 0% judgement. The therapist will never share the details of your case with any professional who is not part of your treatment plan.

The BetterPlace clinic is open from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and 9:00 am – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Friday

There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment in mental health – each person needs a unique treatment plan, so the recovery period can also differ. However, most patients start seeing significant improvement in their day-to-day functioning and quality of life within 2-3 weeks of treatment. In fact, for certain advanced psychiatric treatments like accelerated rTMS (for Depression, OCD and Addictions), patients can start seeing results in a few days.

Our psychiatrists and psychologists provide both online and offline consultancy. However, some specialised therapy techniques like relaxation therapy, rTMS or tDCS can only be administered in person, at our clinic.
